Here’s a few places that have figured out shared cultural spaces in their communities:
Brooklyn Renaissance offers huge discounts on rentals and classes - as well as free workshops - 3rd Ward members enjoy several facilities of their own, including a Virtual Office and Digital Media Lab. Members also receive free or discounted admission to special events at 3rd Ward and have the chance to participate in showing opportunities in the gallery, including a curated annual member salon.
The Monroe Center, in Hoboken, New Jersey and founded in 1990, is the former Levelor Blinds factory. It has been home to the creations of artists and the businesses of entrepreneurs. Multi-disciplinary art center, Monroe Center for the Arts houses painters, photographers, performing artists, fashion and jewelry designers. These artists offer workshops and classes to introduce both young and old to the arts. The onsite businesses of the Monroe Center for the Arts include printers, floral designers, architects, puppet makers, interior designers, music and dance instructors and pilates studios.
Paducah Arts - Lowertown, home of the Artist Relocation Program, is the oldest neighborhood in the Paducah and is the catalyst for a great deal of excitement, economic growth, and community pride. Lowertown, located just four blocks from the Ohio River and Downtown, is home to the Artist-Relocation-Program. This internationally known program has attracted artists from as far west as Hawaii and east as Germany . . . . Like many small towns around the country, when the big shopping malls opened up on the outskirts of town, their Downtowns were devastated and many have never recovered. The difference between Paducah and many of these other towns is their vision and love of the arts. Paducah is now fast becoming the newest cultural destination in the country. Paducah, Kentucky is located two hours north of Nashville, TN and a little over two hours south of St. Louis, MO.
